Oyo police nab 501 suspects, recover 45 firearms in four months

The police in Oyo State said it arrested 501 suspects in the past four months.
The command said it also rescued 13 victims, recovered 45 firearms, 55 vehicles, 18 motorcycles and 127 ammunition within the period.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abiodun Odude, disclosed this while presenting the executive summary of achievements of the state command from February till date at a stakeholders’ meeting with the Police Community Relations Committee and senior police officers at Eleyele, Ibadan.
The meeting was presided over by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 11, comprising Oyo, Osun and Ondo States,  Mr. Agboola Oshodi-Glover, who was at the command on a familiarisation tour
While giving a break down of the figures, Odude stated that the arrest and the items recovered were done in 54 cases.
He added that 24 cases of armed robbery were recorded and 184 suspected armed robbers were nabbed.
Odude also said 33 firearms, 30 vehicles, four motorcycles and 110 ammunition were recovered from the robbery suspects.
He stated further that four cases of kidnapping were recorded and 14 suspects were arrested, adding that five victims were rescued, with one firearm and two vehicles recovered from the suspects.
Odude also revealed that six cases of murder were recorded within the period, four persons were arrested with two firearms and two motorcycles also recovered from the murder suspects.
According to him, 12 cases of stolen vehicles were recorded and 18 persons were arrested, from whom 20 vehicles and 13 motorcycles were allegedly recovered.
In the same vein,  two cases of trailer hijack were recorded and six persons were arrested, while one vehicle was recovered from them.
Seven cases of burglary were recorded and 12 persons arrested. Five persons were said to have been rescued from the suspected burglars. Five firearms were also said to have been recovered from the suspects.
Odude reported that one case of cultism was recorded and 257 suspects were arrested, adding that two firearms and 12 ammunition were recovered from the suspects.
He further stated that three cases of ritual killings were also recorded and six suspects were arrested while three victims were rescued.
