Indications have emerged that Dr. Ademola Adeleke, the younger brother of the late first civilian governor of Osun State, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who is one of the two aspirants for the vacant seat of Osun West Senatorial District on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress may boycott the primary election of the party scheduled for Wednesday.
Feelers have it that Adeleke had been making plans to defect to the Adesoji Adagunodo-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state to contest the senatorial seat against the APC.
It was gathered that Adeleke’s decision to defect to PDP was not unconnected with the manner with which the National Working Committee of the APC upturned the disqualification of Senator Mudashiru Hussein by the screening committee set up by the party leadership.
Investigation by our correspondent revealed that the PDP faction had concluded plans to offer its ticket to Adeleke for the senatorial bye-election.
But Adeleke’s mobile phone was switched off when our correspondent tried to contact him on Tuesday to confirm the speculation about his defection.
Meanwhile, the APC primary slated for Tuesday was postponed to Wednesday.
In a related development, the primary election of the Adagunbodo faction of the PDP in the state has also been postponed.
