The police in Ogun have arrested the killers of a bank agent, Sunday Awodiran.
The late Awodiran was murdered on Sunday, May 14, 2017, after he closed from work and was on his way home.
The 38-year-old indigene of Ekiti State was attacked by hoodlums at Lambe junction, Alausa Village, in Ifo Local Government Area of the state at about 9:45 pm.
He was dispossessed of a cash sum of N200,000, some recharge cards and ATM cards before being stabbed to death by his assailants.
When the case was reported to the police at Ajuwon Divisional headquarters, the DPO, Superintendent Kazeem Afolabi, was ordered by the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, to bring the perpetrators of the act to book by all means.
In compliance with the CP’s order, the DPO and his men swung into action and their efforts led to the arrest of the suspects namely Lukman Taiwo, 30; Taiwo Babalola, 29; David Gbenga, 25; Wasiu Olaegbe, 24; Ojo Aliu,30; Taofik Sulaimon, 24; Jamiu Taiwo, 31; and Igwe Ofosile.
A toy gun and assorted charms were recovered from the suspects.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that all the suspects had confessed to killing the victim after robbing him of his money because he knew their identity.
Meanwhile, the state commissioner of police has ordered the transfer of the case to the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad for discreet investigation and possible prosecution of the suspects.
He also appealed to members of the public to assist the police always by giving them necessary information that would enhance the effective performance of their duty.
