The Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Olaoye, installed a new Araba of Ogbomosoland, Alao Opeyemi Makinde, on Friday, advising him to prioritise religious harmony, peace, and unity for the development of the ancient town.

During the coronation conducted by the Asiwaju Awo Ile Ogbomoso, Olayiwola Akanmu, in his palace, the monarch urged the new Araba to do everything to make their religion attractive to the people, particularly the younger generation.

He admonished Araba to make traditional religion appealing to the youth while fostering harmony among different faiths.

“Seek peace with other religions. You don’t need to fight or abuse people who don’t share your religious ideology. Also, don’t misuse your office”, the monarch said.

In his remarks, the Araba of Ibadan, Ifagbola Olalere, praised the Soun’s efforts in promoting culture and tradition, assuring the new Araba of his support in performing his duties.

Also speaking, Oladejo Akanni, emphasised the importance of using the position to foster unity and respect, urging him to view his role as a privilege and avoid oppressing others.

Earlier, scores of Muslim faithful gathered at the palace for a special prayer session marking the first coronation anniversary of Oba Olaoye.
