Awujale, Akarigbo call meeting over proposed Ijebu State

The Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, and the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, have called a stakeholders’ meeting to further the push for the creation of Ijebu State.

According to a statement on Wednesday, the stakeholders’ meeting will hold today (Thursday) at the Aafin Awujale in Ijebu Ode, Ogun East Senatorial District

The statement issued by the Aafin Awujale and signed by Onigegewura Akile Ijebu, Tunde Oladunjoye, said the meeting will bring together key representatives from the Old Ijebu Province, currently known as Ogun East Senatorial District.

“The stakeholders’ forum on the proposed Ijebu State will be attended by accredited representatives of the people of Old Ijebu Province, presently known as Ogun East Senatorial District in the present Ogun State,” the statement noted.

Participants expected to attend include traditional rulers, members of the national and atate Assemblies from Ogun East, Local Government Council Chairmen, business leaders, market representatives, and members of religious and community organisations.

Oladunjoye said, “The forum will provide a platform for discussing the creation of the proposed Ijebu State, with a focus on advancing the movement and building support from local and national stakeholders.”

The meeting is set to begin at 10 am, and its outcome is expected to influence the ongoing advocacy for the establishment of Ijebu State.
