Insecurity: Niger gov gives LGs, vigilance groups 29 Hilux vans

Worried over increasing rate of insecurity, Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, has presented 29 operational Hilux pick-up vans to local government chairmen and vigilance groups in some troubled areas of the state.

Making the presentation to the grassroots executives in Minna, the state capital, Bello said the operational vehicles would assist the beneficiaries to effectively secure their areas. He also identified the vigilance groups as critical stakeholders in the face of recent security challenge confronting the state, particularly at the local government level.

The governor urged the chairmen and the vigilance groups to work closely with security agencies to achieve the desired result.

“The recent security challenges is not only alien to the people of the state but unacceptable to my administration.

We are therefore, committed to making Niger State safer. I warn all criminally minded people to relocate from the state,” Bello said. He commended the efforts of security agencies in the state and charged them to redouble their efforts at ridding the state of criminals.
