Edo State House of Assembly has put on hold the screening of Cyril Oshiomhole, son of Senator Adams Oshiomhole, until Monday, next week, when another plenary of the House would hold.

The assembly on Wednesday cleared Samson Osagie as the Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General-designate.

The names were submitted to the lawmakers by Governor Monday Okpebholo following his inauguration on Tuesday.

In confirming Osagie, Speaker of the house Blessing Agbebaku emphasised his cognitive experience, having served in various capacities including twice in the state and national assemblies.

Agbebaku stated that the decision to clear him was one of the privileges granted to the former lawmaker who will now serve as the Attorney General of the state.

The screening and confirmation hearing for Cyril was put on hold because the House wanted to follow the legislative due process.

The House leadership did not see any compelling reason to hurriedly confirm Oshiomhole, who is not a former member of the legislature.

The House, as learnt, wants to interrogate the nominee on his perspectives on how to transform the health sector to make it answer efficiently to people’s heathcare needs.

Meanwhile, the assembly also passed a motion urging the state government and security services to address rising kidnappings, cultism, and related killings in the state.
