Ajilted husband, Abiodun Atinuke, is currently standing trial before an Ijeshatedo Magistrate’s Court for allegedly hiring assassins to kill his former wife.

The police reportedly arrested Atinuke after his wife narrowly escaped the bullets of her wouldbe killers and reported the incident to the law enforcement agency.

The 34-year old suspect allegedly hired three men, now at large, and paid them an undisclosed amount of money to assassinate his ex-wife, Eniola, for leaving him for another man six months after their marriage.

Atinuke, who hails from Ogun State, married Eniola from Ilorin, Kwara State, in November last year, but they broke up six months after.

Angered by her action, Atinuke allegedly took suspected assassins to 15, Ogunmokun Street, Mushin, Lagos, where Eniola moved to after she left his house and ordered them to kill her.

Eniola, however, managed to escape and later reported the matter to the police at Olosan Division.

Subsequently, Atinuke was arrested but his accomplices were a step ahead of police and escaped.

When interrogated by the police, Atinuke did not deny the allegation. He said trouble started after they got married and Eniola started behaving strangely, coming home late.

He said he confirmed his suspicion, when he caught his wife with her secret lover. The suspect said that when he confronted Eniola, instead of showing remorse, she decided to pack out of their matrimonial home and took refuge in her lover’s house.

Atinuke was charged before the court for conspiracy and conduct likely to breach public peace. When he was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty. The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Abegunde Davis, granted him bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

However, Atinuke was remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, Lagos, pending when he would perfect his bail conditions. The matter was, however, adjourned till September 24, 2017.
