After six days trading session’s dominance of the bears on the Nigerian Exchange Limited, the Nigerian local bourse recorded a bullish session on Tuesday, with the All-Share Index rising by 0.22% to 97,123.61 points.
The gain recorded, boosted market capitalization by 0.22 percent to ₦58.85 trillion, adding ₦130.8 billion to investors’ portfolios and bringing the year-to-date return to 29.89 percent.
Sector performance was largely negative, as insurance fell by 1.33 percent, consumer goods by 0.05 percent, and industrial goods by 0.06 percent. However, the banking and oil/gas sectors rose by 3.16 percent and 1.55 percent, respectively.
Overall, 26 stocks advanced while 21 declined. Leading gainers included CONOIL up by 9.93 percent, JOHNHOLT, 9.92 percent, UBA, 9.87 percent, EUNISELL, 9.87 percent, and PZ, 8.48 percent, while prominent decliners included OANDO, DAARCOM, REGALINS, VERITASKAP, and GUINEANS.
Trading activity was strong, with increases in deals, volume, and value by 2.82 percent, 194.37 percent, and 79.64 percent, respectively.
A total of 3,602.24 million shares were traded in 10,679 deals, amounting to ₦25.57 billion. SOVRENINS led by volume, with 2.5 billion units valued at ₦1.42 million across 12 transactions.
