A group, the Joseph Okunmuyide and Friends Foundation, has organised trainings for some young Nigerian boys on how to make impacts in life, avoid costly peer mistakes and be purpose-driven in their chosen careers.
The foundation and Let’s Talk Initiative in collaboration with the Catholic Youths Organization of Nigeria, Osogbo Diocese, dished out the empowerment programmes for the young boys at a Boychild Bootcamp held in Osogbo, capital of Osun State.
According to the organisers, the project was born out of passion to nurture the next generation of young boys to be more audacious, confident and instill in them teachings on leadership, embracing godliness, effectual hygiene, career development and managing peer pressure with societal expectations.
Addressing the boys, a renowned public speaker, Mr. Francis Olaniyi, explained how they can deal with peer pressure while discovering their purpose in life and becoming men of integrity that would turn around the country in whatever leadership positions they find themselves.
He urged the participants to know who they are, carefully select their peers and jealousy pursue that which they wish to become in life.
In his speech, Mr Joseph Okunmuyide, a Talent Development professional emphasised the importance of identity, hygiene, purpose, and leadership for the boy child.
He encouraged the boys to develop a strong sense of identity of who they are, understanding their unique value in the world. He also brought to light the significance of embracing proper hygiene as it is fast becoming a worrisome thing to see young boys dropping the ball on their way to achieving their set goals in life.
Okunmuyide stressed the need for proper hygiene, saying the culture builds self-respect and confidence.
He urged the boys on pursuing a clear purpose, asking them to set meaningful goals and work towards them with determination.
The seasoned HR Generalist reminded them that they carry light within them, the potential to be positive leaders and role models in society, encouraging them to shine and make an impact wherever they go.
