The Chief Whip of Nigerian Senate and Senator Representing Ebonyi North at the National Assembly, Peter Nwebonyi, has donated N120 million for the construction of motorised borehole in the selected community within his senatorial district as part of measures to tackle cholera pandemic in the state.
The senator also promised to distribute 25 hand pump boreholes across his senatorial district as a way of giving his people potable water for better life.
Nwebonyi disclosed this in an interview on Wednesday while sympathising with families of cholera victims within his district.
He however urged his constituents to take precautionary measures to end further spread of the disease.
According to him, “The outbreak of cholera is very unfortunate. I want to use this medium to sympathise with the family of those that have lost their dear one in the cause of the deadly disease.
“I have also contacted the Ministry of Health for intervention and I am going home with drugs to immunise the people to avoid contracting the disease.
“Knowing that cholera is a water borne disease and water is one of the essential needs, as I speak to you, I have voted N120 million for provision of motorised boreholes in the selected community of Ebonyi North Senatorial district. Outside that, I have 25 hand pump boreholes that will be distributed across Ebonyi North Senatorial district; all gears towards giving our people potable water for better life.”
