- Reaffirms commitment to transparency in promoting qualified officers
The Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has approved key management appointments in acting capacity and redeployment to enhance strategic service delivery.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Service’s Spokesman Abdullahi Maiwada, on Friday.
Maiwada disclosed that the development followed the statutory retirement of some members of the management team of Nigeria Customs Service.
He highlighted the breakdown of the appointments and redeployment to include:
I. BM JIBO DCG Finance Administration and Technical Services (FATS).
II. OA ALAJOGUN Ag. DCG Enforcement, Inspection and Investigation (EI&I).
III. IG UMAR Ag. ACG Headquarters.
IV. OA SALEFU Ag. ACG Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC).
V. BA MAKINDE Ag. ACG Human Resource Development (HRD).
VI. T BOMODI Ag. ACG Enforcement, Inspection and Investigation (EI&I)
These appointments, according to him, are a testament to the officers’ exemplary services and dedication to the Nigeria Customs Service.
“The service remains committed to providing strategic leadership to ensure effective and efficient service delivery for optimum performance.
“While thanking the retired members of the management for their meritorious services, the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi congratulated newly appointed officers and charged them to redouble their efforts to ensure the Service achieves greater heights in its mandates of revenue generation, suppression of smuggling and trade facilitation,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, in a related development, Adeniyi has reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to maintaining transparency and justice in promoting deserving officers and men of the Service.
This is on the heels of the ongoing 2024 promotion exam for officers and men of the Service.
During an inspection visit to one of the examination venues at SASCON in Maitama District, Abuja, CGC Adeniyi emphasised the security measures put in place to maintain the examination’s integrity, noting that invigilation and other safeguarding measures had been strengthened to prevent any form of malpractice.
“This promotion exercise is not only statutory but crucial to maintaining the high standards of our Service. Every eligible officer will be promoted based on their performance. Whoever is deemed to have done well can rest assured that their promotion will fairly be granted as it will be based on merit.
“We have a few candidates who are not in the country, and we have made significant efforts to apply some technological approach to engage them in the examination process at the same time with their colleagues in Nigeria, through the assistance of the National Intelligence Agency,” he stated.
