Protesters in Kano State have set up bonfires in front of the Kano State Government House.
The protesters who came out in their hundreds said they wanted the government to bring back fuel subsidy.
They also said they would not leave the streets until all their demands were met.
In Kaduna State, where the protest had begun on a peaceful note, protesters began to burn tyres on one of the major roads leading to the Kaduna State Government House and policemen on the ground fired tear gas to disperse them.
Police spokesperson in Kaduna State, Mansir Hassan, said that the protests has been hijacked by hoodlums and non-state actors.
Hassan, who said a policeman had been injured in the state, noted the Police will do all it can to prevent the situation from getting worse.
