Residents of Enugu State are not participating in the protest against hunger and bad governance in Nigeria, The Point has gathered.

Though streets and roads are deserted, there is no demonstration in any part of the state as at 12:15pm on Thursday.

Residents remain indoors and most government offices were deserted.

Majority of shops and business places were under locks and keys as various popular areas are desolate.

There is few vehicular movements and scanty persons are seen on the streets.

Recall that the leadership of the Ohanaeze had called on South Easterners to ignore the protest against bad governance in the country.

In an interview with The Point, a resident of Enugu, the capital city of the state, simply identified as Obum, she said many people are indoors and there is no announcement of protest prior today.

“Before now, no group or society announced any plan to protest, so, we are not expecting any. Most of us are indoors and I am not aware anyone is protesting,” she said.
