The much anticipated #Endbadgovernance protests have kicked off nationwide.
In Lagos, protesters have marched to the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park, one of the two designated protests ground in Lagos State, flanked by security personnel who have been mandated to maintain law and order.
The protesters moved from Ikeja Under bridge and so far, there have not been reports of skirmishes or the protests being hijacked by hoodlums.
There were fears that there could be a confrontation between the protesters and pro-government demonstrators, but that has not been the case so far.
In Abuja, there was a mild face-off between the Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, and human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, over where protesters in the capital city should converge.
A Justice of an Abuja High Court, Sylvanus Orji, had on Wednesday issued an ex-parte order restricting the protesters to the Abuaja National Stadium, popularly known as the MKO Abiola National Stadium.
However, while Igweh insisted that the protesters, who had gathered on the roads around the stadium, had to only restrict themselves within the confines of the stadium, Adeyanju, who is leading the #endbadgovernance protesters, maintained that they were in the vicinity of the stadium.
