As part of a week-long activities to mark its first year anniversary, Rotary club of Magodo Central has held free medical services for Lagos residents.
The free health service, which included enlightenment talk on how to take care of sick patients, prevention of heart related diseases, eating right and medical screening, was carried out by the club at the Ikosi – Isheri community.
Meanwhile, the management of Little Saints Orphanage Home has expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club of Magodo Central.
The branch coordinator of the home, Mrs. Akintilo Aramide, while receiving the club members, enjoined them not to relent in their social responsibilities.
Earlier, the Vice President of the club, Mr. Segun Adebule, said their visit to the orphanage home was part of the humanitarian responsibilities, which the Rotary club had long been known for.
“This is part of our activities to mark our charter’s first year anniversary. It is what we have always been known for in Rotary club,” he said.
The club members donated various food items, clothing materials, toiletries, books and others to the home.
The President of the club, Mr. Adeshina Kadiri, said that the club lived for service to humanity.
“We in Rotary Club believe that we are dedicated to service to humanity. Since we at Magodo Central are one year this week, we decided to have this week impacting on people’s lives, and contributing to the society,” Kadiri said.
The club’s chair of administration, Mrs. Kadiri Omodele, said that the first year anniversary was in line with what the club had been known for.
Speaking at the club’s book donation programme at the Isheri Junior Grammar School, Isheri and Idera Primary School, Ikosi-ketu, Lagos, Kadiri, said, “We are celebrating our one year of existence in line with what rotary stands for, which is service above self.
In line with this, we have decided to reach out to our community in some focus areas of service projects such as encouraging basic education and literacy by donating books to schools and orphanage home, disease prevention and treatment by heart enlightenment and heart screening at Ikosi-Isheri, controlling traffic at CMD road and others.”
