Ogun Police Command arrests suspect with weapons, others

The Ogun State Police command has arrested an individual suspected of being involved in armed robbery and cult activities.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, the suspect, Alole Johnson, was arrested on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at the Ibafo area of the state.

According to the police PRO, “It was reported that on June 18, 2024, at 0045 hours, DSP Omosoigbe Claudius and another officer were on a motorcycle patrol at Long-Bridge heading towards Lagos.

“They observed that a Toyota Corolla car stopped on the fast lane driving against traffic with its full lights on.

“As they approached the vehicle, they noticed a young man, later identified as Alole Johnson from Ibafo area, who appeared intoxicated and suspicious inside the car.

“The patrol team attempted to rescue him and brought him to the station for further questioning.”

According to the police spokesperson, “Upon searching the vehicle, they discovered two locally-made pistols, two live cartridges, an axe, a long cutlass, criminal charms, four ATM cards, a bunch of ID cards, a liquid substance suspected to be drugs, Two Thousand Naira, and a small bag.”

She added that when the suspect was apprehended and during interrogation, he denied any knowledge of how he obtained the items.

Subsequently, Odutola added that a search was conducted at his residence where a military camouflage cap was found.

She explained that “the case is currently being investigated by the DCB, and the suspect and the evidence will be transferred to the SCIID in Abeokuta for a thorough investigation.”
