CBN to mop N1.56trn from economy through treasury bills in Q3, 2024

Central Bank of Nigeria is set to mop over N1.56 trillion from circulation in the third quarter period in 2024.

The Bank made this disclosure through the Nigerian Treasury Bills calendar it recently released.

The issuance of the NTBs, which is a weekly exercise, begins on June 6, 2024, and ends on August 22, 2024.

A breakdown of the plan issuance of treasury bills showed that about N494.08 billion will made available to investors in June.

The 91-day NTBs stood at N49.98 billion, 182-day, N63.84 billion and 364-day, N380.26 billion.

The Bank disclosed that it will issue a total of about N189.33 billion worth of NTBs in July.

The 91-day bills are worth N63.8 billion while the amount on offer will drop to N7.93 billion for 182-day bills in the same month.

Meanwhile, N117.60 billion worth of 364-day bills will be issued in July.

The CBN indicated that it will be bullish on the offer in August with a total of N1.45 trillion worth of treasury being offered.

The 91-day bills will stand at N380.26 billion, 182-day, N444.07 billion and 364-day NTBs, N626.07 billion.

The Central Bank of Nigeria disclosed that the currency in circulation reached a new year high of N3. 4 trillion as of December 11, 2023.

This was an increase of 13.71 percent or N410 billion from N2.99 trillion recorded in October 2023.
