Former governor of Adamawa State, Bala James Ngilari, was on Monday convicted and jailed for five years without option of fine for corruption and conspiracy.
A Yola High Court, in Yola, the state capital, presided over by Justice Nathan Musa, found Ngilari guilty of four of the charges preferred against him while free him of only one.
Ngilary was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a 17-count charge, over the award of contracts worth N167.8 million, without recourse to due process.
Ngilai was charged with crimes ranging from criminal conspiracy to award of contract for the purchase of 25 of Toyota Corolla cars to one El-Yadi Motors Limited without obtaining the certificate of ‘No Objection’ from the state procurement agency.
