Super Eagles striker, Cyriel Dessers was on target during the weekend’s exciting Old Firm derby as 10-man Rangers were beaten 2-1 by Celtic.
The victory put Celtic within six points of the top spot in the Scottish Premiership.
Rangers now trail Celtic by nine points. With two games remaining and a point total of 87, the hosts need one more point to win the trophy.
The goal came via a left-footed drive by Matt O’Riley in the 35th minute after Callum McGregor’s cross gave the home team the lead.
A mere three minutes later, Celtic’s lead was doubled when Rangers defender John Lundstram misdirected a cross from Daizen Maeda into his own net.
Two minutes later, Rangers cut Celtic’s lead with a close-range header from Cyriel Dessers, but before the half, things worsened for them when Lundstram was sent off for a studs-up challenge on Alistair Johnston.
Early in the second half, Mohamed Diomande took down Marvin O’Riley in the box, but Rangers’ goalie Jack Butland stopped the penalty kick to deny O’Riley a second goal to keep the game alive.
Celtic continued to have opportunities; Maeda scored twice but was flagged offside each time, and the hosts managed to hold onto a narrow advantage to complete the victory.
Rangers will have another opportunity to exact revenge on their bitter rivals when they play in the Scottish Cup final on May 25, while Celtic has their sights set on the Premiership championship.
On Wednesday, Celtic travels to Kilmarnock; a draw would guarantee the championship.
