Residents of Okpatu, Okwojo Ngwo Area, Ngwo community in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State have been thrown into shock over the alleged brutal and cruel murder of a retiree.

The retired school headmaster, identified as Reuben Onyiba, was allegedly killed by his daughter simply identified as Ndidi.

Although the reason for the alleged murder was yet to be ascertained, it was gathered that Onyiba’s head and hand were chopped off.

Some neighbours explained that the killer of the retired civil servant had used cutlass to sever his body and dumped his remains inside a dustbin in the vicinity.

Onyiba hailed from Abia in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State but is said to be living in Ngwo with his wife and daughter.

At Uzo-Nwa-Money in Okwojo Ngwo, the victim’s residence, sympathizers were seen grieving over the sad occurrence.

They said such tragedy has never befallen them in the area, alleging that the deceased had gone missing before his severed body was discovered in a dustbin.

In an interview, the victim’s landlord, Donald Onyia, expressed shock at the incident, disclosing that police have arrested the daughter and wife.

“It is in my house that Reuben Onyiba and his wife and daughter lived. His wife came to tell me that she has been looking for her husband since Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

“After we might have searched for him for two days, we then discovered his corpse in a dustbin. His head and hand have been smashed and chopped off,” the landlord explained.

He added that Ndidi was alleged to have conspired with others to kill her father, saying, “When police came to arrest Ndidi and her mother, it was speculated that the daughter was the prime suspect.”

The deceased’s neighbours who were selling used clothes at the front of his house described him as a peace-loving and easy-going man.

They said the police have arrested the victim’s wife and daughter.

Also, the landlord said the police arrested the duo and had visited the house for investigation.

The late retired headmaster lived in Okwojo Ngwo area because his wife is the headmistress of Amachara Primary School in the community.

It was gathered that the victim’s relatives at Abia had come to evacuate his remains for burial.

Efforts to contact the police for confirmation were not successful.
