Controversy has continued to trail the recent release of the list of prospective governorship aspirants by the All Progressives Congress in Anambra State.
Already, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Charles Soludo and Senator Uche Ekwunife, two of those listed among those aspiring to become the governorship standard bearer of the APC in the state in the next election, have dissociated themselves from the list. Soludo and Ekwunife argued that they had never told anyone that they wanted to contest the party’s governorship ticket.
The state Chairman of the APC, Mr. Emeka Ibe, had recently released a list of those he claimed had indicated interest in the party’s ticket for the November 2017 governorship election.
Ibe had listed the aspirants to include Soludo, Chief George Moghalu, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah, Senator Andy Uba, Senator Uche Ekwunife, Chief Bart Nwibe, Obinna Okonkwo, Chief Paul Chukwuma, Chief Obinna Uzor, Dr. Chike Obidigbo, Chief Ralph Okeke, Mr. Tony Nwoye and Prince Donatus Okonkwo.
The state APC chairman had assured that the party would give a level playing ground to all the aspirants, adding that it would not entertain any form of zoning for the selection of its standard bearer
