The Ondo State House of Assembly may proclaim the embattled Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as the acting governor of the state at a special plenary today.
The Point gathered on Monday that Aiyedatiwa has reportedly directed the speaker and the deputy speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly to summon an urgent meeting of the assembly for today. He was said to have directed that the proposed meeting should pass a resolution transferring power to him as the acting governor in the absence of the ailing governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.
Sources said that the assembly has received the request to pass a resolution transferring power to him as acting governor today.
However, it was unclear on Monday night if the directive will be obeyed by the entire lawmakers.
Some stakeholders in the state argued that Aiyedatiwa’s directive was not in line with the resolutions reached at an Abuja peace meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Friday.
Meanwhile, it was also gathered that a rented crowd has been organised to welcome Aiyedatiwa when he arrives in Akure today.
