Police withdraw officers attached to Buhari’s brother, Sylva, Daniel, Okorocha, Ayu, Matawalle, others

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the withdrawal of police officers attached to former governors Timipre Sylva, Gbenga Daniel, Rochas Okorocha, and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, amongst other prominent Nigerians.

In a recent signal from the Force Headquarters dated July 12, 2023 and seen by The Point on Sunday, Egbetokun withdrew police orderlies attached to former governors, senators, ministers, family members of former President Muhammadu Buhari, and some politically-exposed persons across Nigeria.

Those on the list include former Imo State governor Ikedi Ohakim; former cabinet secretary to President Buhari, Boss Mustapha; former Bauchi State governor, Adamu Mu’Azu; former Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha; former Gombe State governor, Danjuma Goje; former Ogun State governor, Gbenga Daniel; and former Zamfara State governor, Bello Matawalle.

Others are former Police Affairs Minister, Maigari Dingyadi; former Petroleum Minister, Timipre Sylva; former senator Haliru Jika; former Budget Minister, Clem Ikanade Agba; former People’s Democratic Party chairman, Iyorchia Ayu; former member of House of Representatives, Rabiu Lawan and former senator Stephen Adey.

The memo also directed the withdrawal of security aides from other people without specifically providing their full names.

The signal only described others to be deprived of security aides as a former Science and Technology Minister, a former National Assembly Clerk, a former Power Minister, a brother to Aisha Buhari, and a brother to former President Buhari, who was only identified as Daura.
