Investors grab N7.6bn as NGX All-Share Index gains 0.02%

Equities on the Lagos bourse opened the week positively on Monday as the benchmark index advanced by 0.02 percent to close at 59,014.85 points.

Positive investor interests in Dangote Cement Plc which went up by 1.02 percent, Zenith Bank Plc, (+3.23%) and GTCO (+4.74%) kept the broader index afloat, offsetting losses in MTN Nigeria (-3.28%), Okomu Oil Plc, (-3.98%) and Presco Plc, (-0.28%).

As a result, the year-to-date (YTD) return rose to 15.15 percent, while investors picked N7.57 billion off market capitalisation which closed at N32.13 trillion.

Analysis of the day’s market activities showed trade turnover settled higher relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions up by 71.22 percent.

A total of 892.95 billion units of shares valued at N11.15 billion were exchanged in 9,274 deals.

JAIZ Bank Plc, (+2.30%) led the volume chart with 139.89 million units traded, while GTCO (+4.74%) led the value chart in deals worth N2.65 billion.

Market breadth closed positive at a 1.58-to-1 ratio with advancing issues outnumbering declining ones.

Unity Bank Plc, (+9.80%) topped twenty-nine (29) others on the leader’s log, while Academy Press Plc, (-9.55%) led eighteen (18) others on the laggard’s table.
