Leicester City were totally dominant in their Women’s Super League clash against Liverpool as they beat the visitors 4-0 at the King Power Stadium, with Super Falcons central defender Ashleigh Plumptre scoring a rare goal for the home team.

Leicester City were in the ascendancy at halftime as they led 2-0 thanks to goals from Josie Green and Carrie Jones.

Three minutes into the second half Plumptre rose highest and powered home a header past goalkeeper Laws to increase Leicester City’s lead.

Plumptre’s goal, her first of the season in League and Cup, ended the game as a contest, before Goodwin with a header put the icing on the cake in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

Leicester City were in a sticky position at the end of March but they have taken great strides in April with back-to-back wins in the Women’s Super League for only the first time this season.

The win meant the Foxes have climbed two places to tenth in the twelve-team table in the Women’s Super League ahead of their trip to UEFA Women’s Champions League semifinalist Arsenal on May 5.

Plumptre has locked up a 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup roster spot, assuming she does not suffer a serious injury before the end of the 2022-2023 season.
