A non-governmental organisation, Save the Children, is set to support 45,000 out-of school children in Zamfara State. The Chairman of the State Technical Working Group on Save the Children Girls Empowerment Programme , Yusuf Abdullahi, disclosed this during a visit to the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board.
According to him, 45,000 outof- school children from the state had already been selected across the 14 local government areas for the training programme.
He noted that the high number of out-of-school children in the state had become a source
of concern.Abdullahi said, “The breakdown of the children include 28,000 girls and 17,000
boys”.
In his remarks, the state Chairman of SUBEB, Murtala Adamu Jangebe, said the state
would partner with donor agencies to establish vocational training centres in primary
schools with a view to inculcating the attitude of self-reliance in pupils in the state.
