Head coach of the Super Falcons, Randy Waldrum, is excited about the attacking combination of Desire Oparanozie and Asisat Oshoala in the international friendly match against Haiti.
The nine-time African champions defeated Haiti’s women’s national team 2-1 in an international friendly in Antalya, Turkey at the weekend.
Oshoala, a Barcelona forward who scored Nigeria’s second goal in the 52nd minute, and Oparanozie were on the field for the first time under Waldrum.
He stated that the Haitians were fortunate not to concede a goal due to their excellent combination in front of goal, and that Oparanozie will see more game time.
“The way Oshoala and Oparanozie combined together showed that they know each other very well and the Haitians were lucky not to have conceded a goal in the last 10 minutes of the match,” Waldrum said.
He added, “For that reason, we will see how Oparanozie is going to fit in and play with the rest of team.”
Under the American tactician, the Super Falcons had suffered six consecutive defeats before a 2-1 victory over Costa Rica and another 2-1 victory over Haiti recently.
In another warm-up game before the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the 2019 African champions will face New Zealand.
