The Zamfara State Government has announced completion of preparations towards collaboration with the World Health Organisation, UNICEF, Health Partners International and Sight Savers International to battle Neglected Tropical Diseases across the state. The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Abdullahi Muhammad Shinkafi, disclosed this during the dissemination of a five-year master plan for the control of NTD programmes
organised by the state Ministry of Health.
Shinkafi said, “We have to commend the HPI, SSI, WHO, UNICEF and DFID, among others, for the contributions they have offered towards improving healthcare system, especially in the rural areas in the state.
“You should be commended for organising such a well educative interactive session for the dissemination of master plan for the state in controlling the Neglected Tropical Diseases
(NTDs).”
He said many diseases had been neglected by the public, especially in rural communities
and eventually, multitude number of people were suffering from them.
