Following the scarcity of naira notes in Nigeria, political parties and candidates have adopted new methods of buying votes from electorate at the ongoing presidential and national elections across the country.

Checks by The Point correspondent at some polling units revealed that party supporters were seen taking down names and account details of voters on lists.

Some voters were seen exchanging altercations in Ile-Ife, Osogbo, Ilesa and other towns monitored by The Point because their account details were not captured in the list after they cast their votes.

In some other polling units, party agents were assuring voters that they would “get back to them.”

It was gathered that some other political parties had already taken the names of voters who had indicated their interest to trade their votes well before the Saturday exercise.
