The very first time I fell in love I could not stop writing poems and songs for the particular girl. I was in secondary school, JSS 1 or so. I would not call it love; I think it was a crush. She was too pretty that I could not say a word whenever I was close to her.

I would look into her eyes, but words failed me. We were friends for a long time, but I guess I was not man enough. The feeling disappeared after secondary school and I have absolutely no idea where she is now.

The truth is that over the years, I have been in many relationships and I have had my fair share of heartbreaks too. But what you felt for a particular lady back then might not replicate in the present. You could have dated a lady for five years in the past and whenever you see her now, you would wonder what made you to love her.

For me, the only real love is the one that ends up in marriage. My wife and I dated for six years before marriage, though we went apart for close to two years. We got back at some point; you know how relationships are.

When your heart decides to love someone, there is no way you can question it. The moment you find yourself questioning your heart, that is when you make stupid mistakes
