Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Works and Housing, has said that foreign borrowings by the Federal Government are aimed at closing the infrastructure gap in the country.
Fashola said this at the 28th National Council of Works meeting on Thursday in Kano.
Fashola said that most of the borrowings were expended on projects across the country.
“The Buhari administration has been able to use the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) for Nigeria’s development in terms of infrastructure.
“Apart from the N18 billion that we met in 2015, there was nothing left for the administration, even though the price of crude oil was dropping.
“In spite of these, the Federal Government has been able to deliver many roads across the six geo-political zones of the country,” he said.
Fashola said that the administration was determined to complete all ongoing projects before its exit on May 29, 2023.
He said that the state has benefited from the Federal Government’s intervention which has enhanced the living conditions of the people.
In his remarks, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, appealed to the Federal Government to extend the Kano Northern bypass from Kano-Hadejia Road to Kudiawa on Kano-Daura Road.
Ganduje said that his administration placed high premium on the welfare of the people, hence the execution of many peoples oriented projects across the state. (NAN)
