A total number of 9, 600 persons suffering from eye problem would be treated free of charge by the Zamfara State Government in collaboration with the 14 Local government councils in the state.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Muttaka Rini, said that 700 persons would be treated in each of the 14 LGAs, bringing the total number of the beneficiaries to 9,600.
According to him, a team of medical doctors specialising in eye-related cases had already been mobilised and drafted to some designated areas across the councils to treat the affected persons.
The commissioner, therefore, advised those with eye problems to report to the designated centres for a free medical treatment, which he stressed did not attract any fee.
He explained that the programme was jointly financed by the state and the local government councils, adding that anyone asked to pay for the service should immediately report to the appropriate authorities for action.
