38-year-old first timer emerges 8th Osun Assembly Speaker

Member-elect for Odo-Otin State Constituency, Adewale Egbedun has been elected as the Speaker of the 8th Osun State House of Assembly.

Egbedun, aged 38, was elected after he was nominated by Ibrahim Abiola of Irewole/Isokan constituency and seconded by another lawmaker, Areoye Samuel.

The new Speaker is an indigene of Ashi in Odo-Otin Local Government Area of the state.

This is the first time a first timer will become the Speaker of the state parliament.

The inaugural sitting of the parliament was presided over by the Clerk of the House, Simeon Amusan.

Member-elect from Ife North Constituency, Akinyode Oyewusi was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the House.

The inaugural plenary was attended by the Governor of the state, Ademola Adeleke, his Deputy, Kola Adewusi and top government functionaries.
