The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oyo State Council, has secured the partnership of 25 America-based Nigerian medical personnel to screen and treat a total of 1,200 journalists in the state.
A statement issued on Saturday in Ibadan, the state capital by the state Secretary of NUJ, Sola Oladapo, quoted the Chairman of the union, Ademola Babalola, as charging journalists in the state to take advantage of the free eye screening, eye glasses presentation, dental care and other medical supports.
This, it said, was part of efforts to guarantee healthy living and make them fit to discharge their services effectively as expected.
It further quoted the NUJ Chairman as saying that “Securing medical care for 1,200 journalists, including sports writers, women journalists and the League of Veteran Journalists is a great experience and unprecedented in the annals of Oyo NUJ.”
It lauded Oluwakemi Ajayi, the facilitator; Dr. Oluwole Ajagbe, leader of the medical team; and others for believing in the NUJ leadership.
It also urged journalists in the state to make best use of the three-day exercise starting from Monday morning at the NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku GRA, Ibadan.
