A group, Progressive Group of Nigeria, has backed the presidential ambition of the former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu.
Rising from their quarterly meeting held in Abuja at the weekend, the PGN members called on Moghalu to contest for the president of Nigeria in 2019.
The group in a statement issued by its National Chairman, Hon. Olusola Oyapidan, said it took the decision because all the presidential aspirants, who had shown interest in the 2019 elections were politicians who had been recycling themselves for decades.
The PGN argued that since politicians had failed the country in the area of leadership, Nigeria would fare better if technocrats assumed the positions of authority from 2019.
The group, therefore, said giving technocrats the opportunity to take charge of the affairs of the country in 2019 would make Nigeria to move forward.
The PGN boss said, “Moghalu is a man of sterling pedigree, an experienced administrator with good reputation. Let us think of a man who not only have the idea to proffer solution to the current financial quagmire caused by the past and current administrations.
“Let’s support or think of a man who will make the country to be so much attractive to large and medium scale investors. Let’s support a personality that is well prepared to serve us well, a man that will ensure the common man on the street benefits from the dividends of democracy.”
