The Social Democratic Party in Ogun has said that Governor Ibikunle Amosun will be put to shame with the choice of a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade, as his anointed candidate for the governorship election in 2019.

Governor Amosun had picked Akinlade as his anointed candidate to run for the highest office in the state on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, which the party’s National Working Committee kicked against after the emergence of Prince Dapo Abiodun as the standard bearer of the party.

But while speaking at the SDP State Secretariat in Ibara Housing Estate, Abeokuta, the state Chairman of the party, Otunba Kunle Majekodunmi, described Amosun as a coward for not following the directive of the NWC of the party to allow Akinlade to contest with other aspirants during the APC primary.

“As far as I am concerned, the governor is just like any other person. He has been the one that chose himself and where he wants to be and as well chose his royal son. Isn’t he the one that is afraid? Why didn’t he go to town to slug it out with other aspirants? Well, I know that he will be shamed. Yes, I know that it will happen,” Majekodunmi said.

The SDP state chairman also berated the construction of bridges across the state by the governor, saying that Amosun was building those structures at the detriment of other sectors, including education.

He described the government Model Schools as “empty.”

“For the ruling party, they are only building bridges and not people and when the people are hungry, where do we go from there? And that is why you will see that the model schools that have been built by this administration are empty, even when a large number of them are still uncompleted,” he said.
