No fewer than 20 people reportedly lost their lives with several others injured in separate fire incidences and water accidents that occurred in parts of Kano State in the month of August, the Kano State Fire Service has disclosed.
The Public Relations Officer of the Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, said that the agency rescued a total of 102 persons during its operations within the period under review.
He added that the state fire service received a total of 14 false fire alarms from unscrupulous elements, adding that fire stations across the state received 81 genuine rescue calls at the time.
Abdullahi said, “In the month under review, our officers and men gallantly rescued properties worth over N4 million from destruction, while properties valued over N5 million were destroyed.”
He cautioned the residents of the state against indulging in acts that could endanger their lives and that of other members of the public.Abdulgafar Oladimeji
