former member of the House of Representatives, Chief Bode Mustapha, has lambasted former Abia State governor, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, for asking President Muhammadu Buhari to probe ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo over the alleged missing $16million fund meant for power to prove his seriousness about his anti-corruption war.

Kalu had thrown the challenge at a quarterly public lecture series for cultural orientation, urging Buhari to arrest and prosecute Obasanjo over the alleged missing $16million fund meant for power when the former president was in office between 1999 and 2007 to demonstrate his sincerity about his anti-corruption crusade.

But Mustapha, who spoke exclusively with our correspondent in Abeokuta, Ogun State,  challenged the former governor to come out with evidence of his claim that Obasanjo should be arrested and prosecuted over the missing electricity fund.

The former lawmaker expressed disappointment with Kalu over his comment, advising him to be mindful of his utterances over unfounded allegations of corruption against highly placed individuals in the society.

His comments are out of place. He (Kalu) should get his facts right before making comments

Mustapha, who recalled that the former president had at different fora stated that anyone who had issues of corruption allegations against him should come out boldly with evidence, stressed that Kalu’s comments was meaningless and lacked proof.

He said, “Obasanjo has said on different fora, on the CNN, that if you have any proof, bring it. Who is sure that the security agencies have not done so much on the research and investigation on Olusegun Obasanjo and what have they come out with? Nothing.

“I expect the former governor to be more responsible in his comments because I believe that the issue of arresting people and charging them for corruption is not a matter that should be trivialized. It’s a very serious matter.

“His comments are out of place. He (Kalu) should get his facts right before he makes comments. His personal opinion is not verifiable and not backed with any evidence whatsoever.”
