127,424 PVCs unclaimed in Ebonyi – INEC

Ahead of the 2023 general elections in Ebonyi State, the Independent National Electoral Commission says that a total of 127,424 Permanent Voter Cards have yet to be claimed by their owners in the state.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Dr Chukwuemeka Chukwu, stated this during a press briefing in Abakaliki, the state capital recently.

A breakdown of the uncollected PVCs, released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, showed that Abakaliki Local Government Area had the highest number with 42,816 cards yet to be collected, followed by Ebonyi LGA 37,127.

The REC disclosed that Ohaozara Local Government Area had the least number of uncollected PVCs with 1,885 copies.

Chukwu urged the owners of the uncollected PVCs to visit the various INEC offices to retrieve them.

He said that the Commission had taken delivery of additional 16 INEC Voter Enrolment Device in the state to support 15 already on ground for ease of registration.

He stated that additional 1,161 polling units had been created in the state, bringing the total number to 2,946 while 189,645 eligible voters had, so far, been registered in the on-going Continuous Voter Registration Exercise.
